The Pro Poker Championship Series will be a first in Australia, and it will change the face of the Texas Holdem poker landscape. Normally Texas Holdem poker has been individual’s game, until now!
Australian Pro Poker is set to make it a team sport amongst and between clubs just like lawn bowls, snooker, darts and fishing. Many clubs already have these sports running, along with the various championships that go with them. The Pro Poker Championship Series has the potential to be even bigger.
The Pro Poker Championship Series will run a progressive tournament format, starting at a district level then teams advancing through to zone and state championships and on to a national, not unlike the way the lawn bowls pennant season is run.
This format has many benefits for participating venues including, but not limited to:
Plus an option for venue members to participate in, support and create a unique team sport which will encourage mate-ship between members new and old within the club.
SECTION 1: AREAS
Areas will be categorised into three main groups which are:
Each district covers a 20km radius. Every venue within a specified area will be eligible to enter into the championship series as long as they can field at least one team, which will consist of TWO players. This will be the entry level for all championship participants. This level is where the championship points will start accruing.
Each zone covers a greater area depending on how many clubs that is located within districts. There are equal venue numbers so there is no bias between venues and player numbers when it comes to playing for points in tournaments.
The state level will be the pinnacle for participants to reach (until we get the championship series running nationwide). This will cover all districts and all zones in the selected state. This is where all qualifying venue will battle for the overall championship crown.
